WHY I BUILT IT
I gave up on food logging four times before I wrote this one.
Every app I tried wanted me to become a data entry clerk. Search, scroll, pick the wrong entry, guess the serving, repeat. By day nine I was logging "chicken and rice" as a placeholder for a meal I couldn't be bothered to describe, and the number at the bottom of the screen was fiction.
What I wanted was simple: take a photo, tell it the one thing it couldn't see, and get a number I could argue with. If it guessed, say so. If it looked something up, show me where. Nobody was building that, so I did — nights and weekends for a year, mostly at a kitchen table, mostly photographing my own dinner.
Numero is the app I stayed with. Two hundred and eleven days and counting.
